FEES AND REBATES
INDIVIDUAL PSYCHOLOGICAL THERAPY
A 60 minute therapy session with Dr Janette Brooks is $235.00 (clinical psychology is generally exempt from GST).
A concession fee of $210.00 is available for Health Care Card holders.
You may choose to see Dr Brooks as a private patient (ie. no referral necessary and obtain a rebate through your private health insurance - see below), or under the Medicare "Better Access to Mental Health Care initiative", please see below.
Medicare rebates
You can access a rebate from Medicare if you obtain a referral from a private treating consultant psychiatrist or a mental health care plan from your GP. A mental health care plan provides rebates for six clinical psychology sessions per calendar year. Your GP can conduct a review after these sessions, and you may be able to access another four sessions.
The medicare rebate is currently $126.50 for a standard clinical psychology therapy session.
Payment of your account in full is required at the time of your session. Your rebate will then be processed on your behalf at the time of your session, with the $126.50 returned to your account within 24 hours ($108.50 out of pocket expense).
Private health insurance rebates
If you have a private health insurance policy with ancillary (extras) cover, you may be covered for clinical psychology. Contact your insurer to check if you are covered, if any waiting periods need to be served and what rebate you can expect.
Payment of your account in full is required at the time of your session. A receipt will then be provided to enable your private health fund to process your rebate.
Workers compensation and motor vehicle accident insurance
In some cases clinical psychology may be covered by workers compensation or motor vehicle accident insurance. Please contact your provider to check if you are covered. Please note that you will need a referral from your treating GP to access this cover. You will be required to pay for your sessions on the day and seek reimbursement from your provider at a later date.

Cancellation fee
A cancellation fee may be charged if 24 hours notice is not given.
