PSYCHOLOGICAL THERAPY
Individualized to each clients unique needs
Dr Brooks created A Breathing Space on the 1st floor of Jade Apartments in Hillarys, overlooking the parkland treetops, in January 2019.
Her intention - to create a welcoming, serene, private and beautiful therapeutic space in which her clients can relax and feel nurtured, whilst developing awareness and skills that will empower them to live their best life, physically and mentally.
Working with women to enhance their mental health whilst trying to conceive or during pregnancy and child-rearing remains Dr Brooks’ primary specialty. However, she also enjoys working with adults and adolescents on a variety of issues, including depression, anxiety, stress, trauma, self-esteem, body image, eating disorders, weight management and self-development.
As a Clinical Psychologist Dr Brooks creates a therapeutic space in which her clients can be supported to find that elusive sense of health and well-being that we are all craving.
The individual therapeutic services Dr Brooks offers include:
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)
Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)

FAQS
WHY?
Life can be busy, stressful and can get us down. Many of us also have experienced traumas or difficulties in the past, and struggle with establishing and maintaining healthy interpersonal relationships, and/or a healthy relationship with our self. Often believing we are not good enough, with low self-esteem, self-efficacy or self-worth common.
WHO?
Our complicated 'jig-saw puzzle' of biology, personality, traits, experiences, and relationships can make life very tricky at times - for all of us. As a result, most of us are not reaching our true potential, or living the life we would like to be.
Dr Brooks believes that all of us can benefit from engaging in therapy at least once in our lifetime (she certainly has!).Â
Most people decide to seek the support of a mental health professional when they realise and admit they can't address whatever the issue is, on their own. This can be scary and confronting, but the reality is that many of us reach this point in life. When we do, we can make it so much easier and actually beneficial (by learning and bettering our life and relationships) if we have the awareness and courage to reach out and get the help we need.
HOW?
These private, confidential, individual therapy sessions will help you understand your unique 'why' and 'how'. That is, by exploring your past (to understand the why of your current issue/s) as well as identifying, learning and practicing how to do things differently - so you can achieve your personal therapy goals.
Dr Brooks' approach is best described as being:
Holistic - addressing both the mind and body simultaneously (ie. dietary, exercise and other lifestyle factors as well as thoughts, emotions and behaviours).
Eclectic - using a wide variety of evidenced-based practices and therapies depending upon the unique preferences and requirements of each client.
